River Ure - Hack Falls to West Tanfield
I have just heard (July 2010) that that the longstanding and generous access agreement on this beautiful stretch of river has been lost due to the selfish behaviour of a commercial coach who persisted in taking groups on the river at times when the river was reserved for fishing. Access was granted on the river all year round, but only on certain days of the week during the main fishing season; now all access is lost.
Please do not attempt to paddle the river above West Tanfield bridge until further notice, whilst delicate negotiations are taking place with a (rightly) disgruntled landowner.
